The stunning StarWorld Hotel and Casino has arguably changed the skyline of Macau for ever but the innovative new design has added colour and vibrancy to a already welcoming city. It is situated right in the centre of Macau’s gaming and entertainment district but is still very easy to access with the Macau Ferry Pier only three minutes away! Look out for the free shuttle service from both the Ferry Pier and the Barrier Gate to the Hotel that operates daily from 9am to midnight!

The APT Macau will be hosted by the in-house casino that boasts a vast gaming area of 140 000 sq ft and as with all things oriental, it is tastefully decorated, offers 260 gaming tables and 500 slots. Games on offer include the good old favourites like Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Caribbean Poker and the legendary game of chance, Sic Bo and the slots offer a fine choice of the latest games including ‘Mystic Dragon’, exclusive to StarWorld. There are VIP Clubs on each of six floors that cater for the more exclusive and higher stakes gaming!

Getting there

Although many aspirant poker stars will fly directly to Macau, the vast majority of entrants will probably arrive by boat, either from Hong Kong, or from Mainland China. Even international tourists may find it cheaper and easier flying directly to Hong Kong and then getting a ferry across to Macau.

Ferries to Macau operate from several points within Hong Kong, including Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and Hong Kong International Airport. Although the ferries do not depart as frequently as they do from Hong Kong Island, the ferries direct from the airport are convenient and allow travellers to bypass Hong Kong immigration and customs. All passengers transfer to the ferry in the airport’s transfers hall and remember to ask your travel agent or airline to check your luggage all the way through to Macau. Expect to pay a minimum of HK$180 per trip.

Getting Around

Macau is small and compact and the easiest way to explore this beautiful city is by foot. It is a wonderful blend of Portuguese colonial and traditional Chinese and there are so many sights and sounds to discover that may well be lost should you opt to travel by car or bus instead!

Many of the roads are one way, making it pretty difficult to navigate by car and they also tend to be narrow in places. Expect to get lost in Macau though, as the street signage is appalling and be prepared to slog up steep slopes and steps as Macau is also deceivingly hilly in places.

William Hill have an excellent online Poker games website which we recommend to both new and experienced online Poker players.
