Venue

A new addition to the city, the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is a wonder in itself. It is set in over 4 acres of tropical gardens with its very own lagoon right at the water's edge. The resident Bay Casino is more than contemporary - it is, as they say in the brochure, the rebirth of cool - and is diametrically opposed to the elegance and opulence of the grand old lady of Monaco, the famed Casino de Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo is synonymous with gambling - it was introduced by the Grimaldi dynasty centuries ago in an effort to bring much-needed foreign capital into the small Principality, and it seems more than apt that the Grand Final of the European Poker Tour be hosted by this romantic city. Monte Carlo is the real jewel of the Mediterranean and there are endless things to see and do whilst visiting the city – The opulent Prince's Palace, the Old Town, or Monaco-Ville with its ancient ramparts and narrow streets, the Garnier Opera House which dates back to 1879, the fabulous Japanese Garden and the Museum of Napoleonic souvenirs at the Palace's collection of historic archives.

Getting there

Having a car in Monte Carlo is not a good idea, so perhaps the best way to access the city is by train. All trains stop at the Monte Carlo station including regional express trains linking all the towns in the Cote d'Azur; day trains from Milan, Genoa and Basel; night trains from Paris, Toulouse, Milan, Venice, Pisa and Rome and a high-speed TGV train from Paris.
