Brian Jensen

Danish stockbroker, Brian Jensen has had a remarkable run at the Caribbean Poker Classic – he won the event in 2007 and was runner-up at the same event a year earlier. He really started playing poker about six years ago for fun, and for the first two years that’s exactly what happened, he had plenty of fun.

Then he came third at the Grand final Event of the EPT Pokerstars in 2005 and all that changed. He realised he was on to a good thing and became far more serious about his poker.

Jensen plays more cash games than tournaments, but if the tournament beckons he tries to qualify online. "I won the smaller package for this one but I bought into the main event myself," he said of the 2007 Caribbean Poker Classic.

Jensen was in the Caribbean on holiday and was celebrating the recent birth of his daughter, so he was totally relaxed going into the event. Perhaps that is what sealed the win for him, the first he has had in his short career. To date he has taken home $527 895.

He followed his success at the EPT Pokerstars by going off to Atlantic City to compete in the WSOP’s Harrah’s tournament, and he surprised the poker fraternity by coming second.

"Atlantic City was a really great experience. I played some of the best poker I have ever played, made moves and got tells off people. But I can’t stop thinking what I could have done differently heads-up, so that I would have been the winner. I’m really looking forward to going to Las Vegas," he said.

Las Vegas was not all that kind to him, and neither was his performance at the 37th Annual WSOP event, but he is playing some fantastic poker at the moment. Watch this space – Jensen is sure to be one of the poker stars of the future!
