Little wins World Poker Final
The 2008 World Poker Final produced the longest heads-up match in tournament history as Jonathan Little and Jonathan Jaffe played 275 rounds of cards to decide who would take the $1.1 million first prize.
The two players exchanged the chip lead nine times before Jonathan Jaffe made a fatal error by going all-in with A10 only to be called by Little holding AQ. Little, who had been 5:1 down on chips just minutes earlier, took the pot and the championship.
"I feel good," Little said after the win. "I could play another one if I needed to. I'm kind of glad we didn't have to go all night."
The World Poker Final marked the second occasion that Little has been involved in an epic final table. He was present when the record was first broken at the North American Poker Championship, where 271 hands were played in the final round.
The 2008 World Poker Final was also notable for the performance put in by Mike 'the mouth' Matusow, who appears to be putting a long and ugly bad run behind him.
Matusow entered the final table short-stacked, and almost played himself back into contention for the title, before being eliminated in 6th plae, a result that earned him over $100k in prize money.
