Results of the WSOP Event 30 – $10 000 Limit Holdem

Dutch poker powerhouse, Rob Hollink, has finally added a WSOP bracelet to his stellar career record of eighteen WSOP cashes, two World Poker Tour (WPT) money finishes and his first place finish at the EPT’s (European Poker Tour) inaugural Grand Final showdown in Monte Carlo in 2005.

He had to out finesse over two hundred other Limit Holdem hopefuls for his share of the 2 million dollar plus prize pool and his rivals at the final table included professionals JC Tran and Andy Bloch. Hollink started the final table as the number two on the chip leaderboard with over 890 000 chips to play with, only Aaron Katz from Seattle, Washington had a richer chip stack with 1 232 000!

Lone South African, Cy Jassinowsky, added a bit of international flavour to a final table dominated by players from the US, but it was Hollink from the Netherlands versus Jerrod Ankenman from Connecticut in the Heads-Up.

The Heads Up – Hollink Versus Ankenman

Hollink went into the final showdown as the chip leader but he had to show an inordinate amount of patience to claim the title and the $496 931 in prize money. Instead of throwing caution to the wind and playing dubious hands, he waited for the premium cards before raising or calling.

The heads up took less than an hour and in the final hand Hollink was dealt an Ace of clubs and a 5 of diamonds, whilst Ankenman, who was runner-up at the 2006 $3000 Limit Holdem, was holding a ten and seven of spades. The flop was the 4 of clubs, the Ace of spades and the five of hearts, giving Hollink two pair but the Turn delivered the 3 of hearts and Ankenman fans were on their feet screaming for a six! A Queen of diamonds soon silenced the American’s supporters and Hollink grabbed the pot, the bracelet and the money!
