Poker Star, Barry Greenstein, has had to wait a full three years to claim his third WSOP prize and 34th money finish, but he did it in style, overcoming rank outsider and relative newcomer to the circuit, Chris Klodnicki. Two surprise drop outs were Jeff Lisandro (20th) and Eugene Katchalov (26th) winner of the 2007 WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic!

Two hundred and seventy competitors ended the event in the money but it was up to the new kid on the block, Vitaly Lunkin, to claim the lion’s share of the $3 million plus prize pool. High stakes online poker player, Phil Galfond, made it quite safely to the final table of a B&M event and he must be rightly chuffed with his WSOP campaign to date – he downed some of the biggest names on the international circuit including David Benyamine, who won the current WSOP Omaha Hi/Lo Split Championship, Johnny Chan, second in the WSOP bracelet race with 10, only one behind the current leader, Phil Hellmuth, who also fell to the wiles of Galfond, three –time bracelet winner, John Juanda and Daniel Negreanu, who has recently claimed the 2008 $2000 Limit holdem event!
